First Impressions – NS Snabb 160

From the popular Euro brand that built its fan following around creating the best hardtail jump bikes comes a new style of trail bike. With it’s 170mm / 160mm of travel, racey geometry and and 27.5” wheels the Snabb is an enduro beast in every sense of the word.

However, as we’ve discovered since our test bike arrived a few weeks back, that original DNA of dirt jump / skate park / play bike, which launched the brand to its early success still runs through the veins of every NS bike. As our test rider Blake commented;

“As soon as you hop on the Snabb you instantly feel like Sam Pilgrim or one of the 50:01 boys, searching out sections of trail to launch off or features to try some tricks. The Snabb is a fast and efficient trail bike but it’s personality is incredibly fun and playful.”

The Snabb 160’s frame geometry has been customised to deliver maximum anti-squat performance. What that means is that even when out of the saddle putting the power down, the  rear shock will not compress which ensures that every watt of power is transferred directly from the rider to the trail.

The bike also ticks all the modern geo ‘must haves’ including; long top tube ‘reach’, low standover hight, and a nice slack head tube to deliver the rider excellent response, efficiency, control.

NS’s intention when designing the Snabb was to create the most versatile trail bike that they possibly could.

“They wanted a bike that was perfect for riding the bike park all day, doing tricks and hitting big jumps, and then have the ability the following day to strap on an enduro number plate and go racing without needing to change set-up settings on the bike.”

Liking the look and sound of the Snabb 160 but perhaps you’d like something with a little less travel? The Snabb family also includes a 130mm and a 150mm versions. Oh, and if you’re really looking to spoil yourself be sure to take a look at the new super lush Snabb 160 Carbon!
