Four more 2021 RockShox Forks Unveiled

Rolling off the coat tails of their successful launch of the 2021 model Sid fork a few weeks ago, today RockShox have gone live with several more models for 2021. Their Lyrik, Pike, Revelation and Yari are all receiving a significant performance boost for the new year.

Whilst we were waiting with baited breath for a new mega enduro fork with 38mm stanchions to be unveiled it turns out we’ll have to wait a little longer for that wish to be answered, instead RockShox have opted to carry across most of the tech ‘n specs from the 2020 model forks into the new year, all be it with one major new feature in the form of a brand new DebonAir ‘C1’ air spring.

In a quest to make the fork ride higher in the travel and be able to utilise every last millimetre of that buttery smooth travel, RockShox changed the configuration of the DebonAir air spring. It now features an updated aluminum seal head with internal bushing, and also a new longer foot-nut at the bottom of the air spring shaft. A somewhat small tweak which has made a big difference to how each of the new forks are going to perform out on the trails.

Best of all the new DebonAir spring is backwards compatible which means riders with a set of 2020 model Lyrik, Pike, Yari or Revelation forks can upgrade their air spring for less than 70 bucks and then reap all of the performance benefits – nice work RockShox!

Watch RockShox product manager Jon Cancellier explain the new DebonAir ‘C1’ air spring in detail.

Review, so how do they ride?

In short, we’re looking forward to finding out as soon as it’s safe to ride at full speed. Here at [R]evolution our team are being mindful to only ride at a moderate pace as we feel it would be irresponsible and selfish to risk crashing and add to the already overwhelmed hospital system. For sure we all want to stay fit and healthy and we’re still loving our trail rides, we’re just being extra cautious right now and we would encourage you to do the same thing. With all that said, we were lucky enough to get our hands on a set of 2021 Lyriks and Pike’s a few weeks ago.

Even at our current ‘modest speed limit’ pace out on the trails the new DebonAir certainly does make the fork feel as if it sits higher in its travel, and we’re glad to report that that doesn’t change the super silky plushness that we love so much about modern RockShox’s forks. We’re not going to try and ‘piss in your pocket’ here though and tell you that we’ve pushed the fork hard enough to get a real world indication of how much different the new DebonAir handles compared to the previous generation – but as soon as all this current craziness clears up we’ll be right back up to speed out at the trails and we’ll bring you a detailed review of these new RockShox bad boys shortly thereafter.

Till then, sit tight, stay safe and keep washing your hands 86,000 times per day! [R]
