RE-ENGINEERED: THE 2018 ROCKSHOX PIKE

2013 feels like an eternity ago, a year which introduced a fork that would become the staple trail fork for many riders over the years to follow. Rockshox much lauded and loved Pike.

For 2018, RockShox has made some major changes to their staple trail fork.  An all new, lighter (150grams) and stiffer chassis is the result with a new Charger2 damper, 180mm direct disc mounts as standard and clearance for 2.8″ tires across the range of 27.5 and 29inch models. Taking more than a little cue from MRP’s Ramp Control cartridge, the new Pike’s Air Spring leg now utilises a cassette removal tool fitting rather than the 24mm socket. You now get 3-position compression adjustment (open/pedal/firm), with low speed compression adjustment available in open mode which should make for much better mid stroke support. Add to this a larger negative air spring resulting in plusher suspension. Travel is still maxed at 160mm and smaller travel models are available, and as they say in the vid above, ‘More Better’… Rockshox Lyric; Revelation and Yari forks have all had a make-over for 2018 and we’ll drop those details as they come in.
