Tahnee Seagrave had a monster WC season last year, coming so, so close to nailing her first WC win against the unstoppable Rachel Atherton. So aside her full throttle riding and world wide lifestyle, there’s obviously something pretty special about the bike that she pilots at warp speed down the best tracks on the planet. We hit up Thanee’s mechanic, Matt Allingham, to tell us a bit about her rocking Transition TR500.
[R]: Is Tahnee’s frame stock or custom?
Matt: Frame is totally stock!
Do you guys run many custom mods/race specs with the parts she runs?
There can be a small amount of modification here and there but we are really lucky with the brands we have on board, everything rocks!
How does she like her suspension set up?
Set up is a little firmer this year than last.
Is Tahnee the type of rider that fusses and stresses tirelessly over her set-up or does he just hop on and ride the thing?
I’ve been working with Tahnee for some time now and have seen her mature as a rider, she is definitely more focused now on what she wants in her bike set up, but she’s never hard work thankfully!
During the season, which parts do you swap out on her bike most often?
The usual really, obviously tyres get changed the most, chain’s are swapped regularly (cassettes and chainrings usually last all season) and the odd rim at times. I like to keep the bike as fresh as possible so most consumables are changed every race.
Do you guys change much up on the settings from race weekend to race weekend, or do you just find a base setting at the start of the year and run with it everywhere?
We are lucky enough to have got onto the Fox suspension program this year which has been a huge help, but essentially we have started again on all tracks with the set up. We had a few days in Portugal earlier this year with Fox to gather base settings and from there we make tweaks at each race. Each WC track is so different it would be impossible to find one setting that fits all!
