EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE MTBA GRAVITY ENDURO NATIONAL SERIES ROUND 4 IN ROCKHAMPTON, QUEENSLAND, JULY 8-9

Venue

Where is the race being held? 

The race is base in the First Turkey MTB park on German Church Rd, North Rockhampton

About the venue? 

Trails are located within the public MTB reserve on trails that the Rocky MTB club has been building for over 20 years.  Trailworx have spent the last few months giving everything a facelift as well as building new trails.

Approx distance from centre of Rockhampton the town itself?  

10 – 15 minutes drive from the City Centre which has plenty of food and accommodation options.

Race format

Single race day with Official practice on the Saturday.

How many timed sections/trails?  

6 timed stages

How many liaison stages?

6

Estimate of total riding distance kms for race rider on race day? 

30km + with over 1000m of descending.

Estimated winning times/total? 

Over 20mins, but the fact that we are using some new stages and some that have never been raced before, expect to see Strava go into meltdown with KOMS.

As per the MTBA National series guidelines.

Shuttles

Will shuttles be available on Saturday for practise?   Most stages are not accessable via shuttle, but stage 5 can be shuttled on the Saturday via private 2wd cars (bitumen rd)

Timing

What style of timing system will be used?

Sportident Air+.  This is the benchmark for Enduro Timing worldwide.

When will results be available?

As you finish the event you will receive your times.

Will results be posted on line, etc?  

Overall results will be posted online at www.emsaustralia.net.au within 60 minutes of presentations.

Categories

Elite Men & Women, Expert Men & Women, Junior Men & Women, Under 17 Men & Women, Under 15 Men & Women and then 6 different Masters Men & Women categories

Enduro World Series qualifying series

Points will be allocated inline with the EWS Qualifying rules.  Riders must be a member of EMBA before racing on Sunday in order to receive points towards the 2018 Qualifing process.

Safety and Equipment requirements

Are full face helmets required for all timed race stages, etc? 

Full face helmets required for all stages (detachable chin piece is OK).  Helmets must be worn at all times when riding your bike

Things to keep in mind about the venue

Phone reception at the race venue is good on all carriers.

Closest place to buy food / drink? 

Food and drink available onsite.  Afterhours, check out the Great Western Hotel.  They even have a live Rodeo every Friday  night.  Lots of big belt buckles!

Closest accommodations?  

Trails are located right in town so plenty of accommodation options.

Camping on site? 

Not available.
