Wild Mersey in Tassie’s North is ready to ride!

Last week we headed down to Tassie to check out the new trails that TrailScapes have been building at Wild Mersey. When complete, the Wild Mersey trail network will connect the towns of Latrobe, Railton and Sheffield with a vast variety of trails on offer.

Stage one is 15km of trail that’s already open in Latrobe. Stage two includes an awesome asphalt pump track and flow trail in Railton along with a 20km rail trail connecting the Latrobe network though Railton and all the way to the new stage 3 trails in Sheffield. The trails that opened this weekend were the first part of the final stage 3 offering and include an additional 15km of trails between Railton and Sheffield. The final piece of the puzzle will be complete later this year and once finished the whole network will be over 100km in length.

The stage 3 trails that opened this weekend include a huge variety of options including green family friendly loops though the forest, nice blue flow trails and “Super Hornet” which is a green/blue flow trail with big berms, jumps and a nice wooden feature. There are also some unique E-Challenge stages, these are climbing trails that have been specifically built with e-bikes in mind and include some rocky technical climbs that are perfect for e-bikes.

Check the out the video above for a look at the new trails, we’ll have a full report in the next issue of the mag out in April.

The Wild Mersey network is located around the picturesque towns of Latrobe, Railton and Sheffield, an hour from Launceston and only 30 mins drive from the Spirit of Tasmania ferry terminal in Devonport.

You’ll find everything you need in the area and you’ll definitely not get bored of the amazing Tassie mountain views.
